In order to live with intention, we need to live in the present. We must concentrate on what is happening right now. We should not worry about the past or the future. (Do we occasionally need to do a little planning for the future in order to be responsible adults and care for ourselves as well as our loved ones? Of course! However, after we spend a little time planning the future, we must return our thoughts to the here and now--the present.)
Sometimes we need to meditate or just sit for a moment to focus on our breathing in order to bring us back to the present. Taking a minute to appreciate the beauty of a flower, the sky, a sunrise, or a sunset will bring us back to the present as well. Really notice your feelings and thoughts at that moment. Then, make a decision as to what you can do to create fulfillment for yourself while also enhancing the lives of others in this universe. How can you strive to be present with your thoughts and actions today?
