We must replenish our positive energy by doing something we love or enjoy, even if we can only spare a few minutes per day. Whether you exercise, meditate, craft, read, write, garden, etc., it is vital to our well being and our relationships with our loved ones. A similar analogy is that we as parents must first put our oxygen masks on before we can help or save our children. We must first take care of ourselves for a brief period of time so that we can be fully present and be at our optimal performance in order to live our life with intention.
I am the first to admit that I am still learning to make time for me and sometimes when life gets too busy or too stressed, I put myself at the bottom of my list again. I am still a work in progress. However, every morning I remind myself to live with intention and that I need to make time for me. I strive for that goal daily.
Although I don't always reach my goal, practice makes progress. Oh, did you think I made a mistake and should have written practice makes perfect? Before having children, I would have said practice makes perfect. Post children, I wholeheartedly know that there is no such thing as perfection. The original phrase has now been replaced with the phrase practice makes progress! The new phrase is much more realistic, optimistic, and attainable. This allows for growth, development, satisfaction, and happiness.
Focus and clarity will increase when you make time for you. Live with intention and aspire for a little bit of "me" time every day--this should result in all areas of your life being enhanced. Make time for you, starting today!
